An Introverted State of Mind –To Be Only Partially Visible In A Largely Inscrutable Universe
Pulling inward, being reclusive, confining oneself to one's home and not wanting any contact with the outside world. Hikikomori, a term coined in Japan where a distal withdrawal resulting in an extremely introverted state of mind has become common place for a large portion of society. Over half a million people in Japan between the ages of 15-39 have chosen to isolate themselves.
Created in collaboration with the charitable organization unuounu.org, working with marginalized groups of society. Exhibited in part at Parasol Unit: Foundation for contemporary Art, London.
